Our entry Tupa was awarded 2nd prize in competition for an info pavilion for Turku medieval market. We created a modular concept that has historic references but is still clearly contemporary architecture.




Löyly was nominated for Finlandia Prize of Architecture 2016 and received the Rose of Building award by Helsinki City Building Control for activating the old abandonned industrial neighborhood. It was great to see the building full of people (even on top of it) the whole summer.




Avanto Architects were chosen as one of 100 architects of the year 2014 by Korean Institute of Architects. We are happy to get recognition even that far.




We got an interesting challenge to revitalize Haapamäki that used to be a lively crossroads of railway lines. After new direct lines were constructed, the unique milieu lost its function and many buildings were left empty. We programmed a step by step strategy to create new activity and save the valuable milieu. The presentation video can be watched at Haapamäki village association's web page.

Masu Planning's multidisciplinary team where we worked as architects got a honorary mention in an invited competition for urban spaces around Kalasatama center. It was demanding but really interesting to try to turn noisy, windy and somber spaces under Kulosaari bridge into a positive and relaxed landscape.

Avanto takes part in the NEWLY DRAWN project. A book presenting nine emerging Finnish architecture practices just came out.




Kyly won the Habitare sauna competition, was selected among the 12 most interesting products by interior journalists and got the Forum magazine +1 award for best new product 2009 at the fair.

Building of the Cemetery chapel starts in February. Rakennuspartio Oy was selected as the main contractor. The opening of the chapel is planned to be in summer 2010.




Avanto Architects' project for Torino Geodesign is exhibited at Palafuksas in Torino, Italy. The project is one of the main events of Torino 2008 World Design Capital. The process has brought around fifty designers from all over the world to work with the local communities and Italian companies to realise projects to satisfy the needs of the communities.




The competition for the artworks for the cemetery chapel has been decided. The first prize went to sculptor Pertti Kukkonen, Pekka Jylhä was awarded the second prize and

Avanto Architects represented Finland with two projects - Villa Flexible and Stops - in International Competition of Young Architects Leonardo 2007 in Minsk, Belarus, and won the prize for the best realised one family house.




Avanto Architects made a floating island "Ile Flottante" for Fiskars summer exhibition Transparent.




Anu Puustinen and Ville Hara were awarded professor Erik Bryggman's and interior architect Carin Bryggman's grant for young architects and interior designers. The grant was founded by Finnish Association of Architects SAFA and Association of interior architects SIO in 1997.
