Tammela football stadium
Our competition entry with White Architects unified the broken city structure. Closing the block from all four sides bringed back the historic grid and helped to keep the building mass low in historic setting. The ridge heights were same as in surrounding buildings. Moreover, for football match a closed arena is ideal as it intensifies the ambience. The curvy roof shape preserved views from surrounding buildings and light on the adjacent school yard. Effective building with a lot of housing area made the project cost neutral for Tampere city.
